Theoben gas ram pressure6/29/2023 ![]() Then when at their best, I'd describe the trigger-actions as only a good sporting trigger not nearly 'match-grade'. Otherwise the actual accuracy and performance of Theoben gas-ram guns is TOP-NOTCH.ĭue to their light piston weight (lacking a steel spring behind it), Theoben gas-ram guns produce higher muzzle energies with light to mid-weight pellets than with mid to heavy ammo. I'd describe the trigger-actions not as impressive as Weihrauch or Air Arms springers, sometimes needing judicious adjustments, and also sometimes difficult to successfully accomplish those adjustments. All others more to my liking carbines.Īll but the SLR 98 are lighter than comparably-sized (and power) springers. Cocking effort is noticeably higher than comparable springers, but firing behavior noticeably quicker and less 'buzzy' or 'twangy'. The Sciroccos were longer than I like, and the RX longer still. I'd also opt for the Air arms again.I've owned 2 Sciroccos, a Fenman with. I'd recommend you handle one before discounting it.Īnother one to throw in the mix is the Air arms TX200, very similar to both the walther and weihrauch. ![]() I've handled all of them and shot both the pro sport and weihraauch, the pro sport is much better for a standing shot, at least it is for me! The pro sport is a similar weight but feels lighter and better balanced because the cocking lever is under the stock. The Walthers are great guns but a bit heavy, especially the LGU because the cocking lever is under the barrel.įor a similar price the Air arms pro sport is the best springer available IMO, arguably, the walthers and weihrauch HW97 (son in law had one) are up there with it but also feel and or are heavier because again, the lever is under the barrel. Within the UK we seem to be a bit limited on availability but in Germany there are plenty of options to choose from, so thats where Im seriously looking, the small snag is that Id have to go and fetch it, but hey ho, it would be a nice drive/short break.ĭo you have any suggestions the best place to sell my Mk3 and Model 50? Ive been doing some indepth searching and been attracted to the Walther LGU & Vs, breakbarrel and underlever spingers, perhaps because I used to have a very nice Walther sometime back and appreciate their engineering. Parts in 2019 are a bugger to obtain Air Arms do good Air Rifles and DayState do some accurate but rather strange looking rifles, don’t get me wrong a good Theoben rifle is worth holding onto but it's pricey when you have to Frankenstein it together with parts scavenged from other Theoben rifles. Six month's later I'd heard Theoben went to the wall then looking further into it turns out the American parent company used the UK company as a tax dodge or something like that and the collapse of the UK company pulled in smaller sub contractors and sent them south too, proper nightmare stuff. I actually liked the rifle but I was pestered with issue after issue in the end the rifle was moved on and replaced with another Rapid 7 same one as I owned with none of the problems and actually put pellets down range at the pressure it was advertised to do. My experience with Theoben wasn’t entirely positive their customer service was shocking I had a FAC Rapid 7 MK1 and it started dropping air pressure which was something neither I nor my local gun shop could rectify so speaking to Theoben I was advised to send it back to them which I did they “fixed” the issue sent the rifle back to me and the problem was still there you'd charge the rifle and leave it overnight and half the pressure had melted or leaked out the rifle was sold to me as a 30 lbs per inch but the testing I did on the rifle showed me it was more 26lbs I used it for feral Pigeons, Squirrels, Rat and some Corvid control. ![]() Since their inception I have fancied owning a Theoben gas ram rifle there's two local to me both looking to be in mint condition, a Fenman and an Evolution carbine.ĭoes anyone have any first hand experience of these regarding reliability, spares repairs etc
